What is homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a system of medicine started by Samuel Hahneman (1755-1843). This system of medicine is based on the principal of like cures like. In other words if I am suffering from a runny nose and teary red eyes then I would want to take a remedy that would cause these same symptoms in a healthy person. Allium Cepa may be the correct remedy- for indeed the common onion does cause tearing of the eyes and a runny nose when someone cuts it up. But unlike eating an onion the remedy is a potentized version of an onion. It is a very minute dose that has been potentized many times. Often so many times that there is none of the original material left.
So the first rule is that like cures like. The second rule is that a remedy works if it effects a quick and permanent cure. Yes that is right when a homeopathic remedy is correctly chosen if should permanently cure you and there should be no negative side effects.
Homeopathy is currently very popular in many places around the world. It is used widely in Japan, Germany, and France. There are more and more homeopathic practitioners in the United States every year and it is gaining more and more attention from an ever-growing base of people. By many it is being hailed as the medicine of the next century.
